The sheer scale of the event underscores its significance – over 549 events and 4,400 athletes from more than 160 countries will compete across 22 disciplines.

The Italian Paralympic Committee has announced that several Fair Play Menarini Ambassadors will have a prominent presence at the upcoming Paris games, running from August 28 to September 8. Notably, sprinter Ambra Sabatini will serve as the flag bearer for the Italian team, an honor she was awarded in the ‘Sport Beyond Sport’ category in 2024.

This impressive group of Fair Play Menarini Ambassadors includes many athletes with remarkable achievements. Among them are: swimmer Giulia Ghiretti, honored with the ‘Sport Beyond Sport’ Sustenium Energy and Heart award in 2023; rower Giacomo Perini, recipient of the ‘Study and Sport’ Fiamme Gialle Special Prize in 2017; sprinter and long jumper Martina Caironi, winner of the ‘Sport Beyond Sport’ award in 2013; equestrienne Sara Morganti, awarded the ‘Sport Beyond Sport’ prize in 2016; versatile athlete Francesca Porcellato, who has competed in athletics, cross-country skiing, and para-cycling, and was honored in the ‘Sport Beyond Sport’ category in 2003 – she’ll be participating in her twelfth Paralympics.

Each of these elite competitors arrives at the Paris Paralympics with a wealth of international titles, earned through years of hard work and determination. They are poised to inspire and showcase their extraordinary talents on the world stage.

Ambra Sabatini’s path to qualification has been thrilling. Just last year, she broke the world record in the 100 meters, and now she is gearing up to compete in Paris. She aims to replicate her stunning performance from Tokyo, where she clinched gold and set a Paralympic record at 19, leaving her competitors in the dust. Meanwhile, swimmer Giulia Ghiretti has become a familiar face on the podium. With three world titles under her belt, she has also made waves at the Paralympics. The champion from Parma impressed at both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, snagging silver and bronze medals in the 100-meter breaststroke SB4 category.

Giacomo Perini earned his spot in the Paralympics with an impressive 2023 season. He clinched the European Championship title in Bled for the men’s PR1 single sculls, followed by a silver medal at the World Championships, securing his qualification for Paris 2024. Martina Caironi stands as one of the greatest athletes in Paralympic track and field history. With three gold and two silver medals across three Paralympic Games, she boasts an incredible record filled with world and European titles, as well as numerous record-breaking performances.

Francesca Porcellato’s journey is truly inspiring in the world of Paralympic sports. The handbike champion is set to make her twelfth Paralympic appearance in Paris. Competing in both summer and winter games, she has excelled in various disciplines, from sprints to marathons, and from cross-country skiing to para-cycling. Her impressive medal haul includes three gold, five silver, and six bronze medals. Porcellato’s sporting achievements are unparalleled on a global scale.

Sara Morganti has built an exhilarating career step by step, victory by victory. In Tokyo in August 2021, she achieved the remarkable feat of winning two bronze medals, the first ever in the history of Italian Paralympic equestrianism. She aims to replicate this success in Paris, where she is expected to shine among the top competitors in her discipline.
