Rebuilding the Future: Menarini Turkey Supporting Children in Post-Earthquake

In September 2024, Menarini Turkey launched a meaningful new social responsibility initiative in collaboration with the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG), a Turkish NGO dedicated to supporting education in areas affected by the devastating 2023 earthquake.

The earthquake, one of the most powerful in the country’s recent history, caused immense destruction, leaving thousands of families homeless and severely disrupting access to education for many students. In response to this crisis, Menarini took action to provide tangible support to children living in extremely precarious conditions.

The initiative involved distributing school backpacks and essential educational supplies to elementary school students in the Kahramanmaraş region, one of the areas hardest hit by the disaster. The backpacks, prepared at Menarini Turkey’s headquarters and production site in Istanbul, were delivered with the logistical support of the Pazarcık Support Center and field workers who worked tirelessly to reach the children most in need.

The distributed “back to school” kits included essential stationery items, giving children the tools they needed to focus on learning and make the most of their school year.

The Pazarcık Support Center, operated as part of TOG’s initiatives, plays a critical role in the community. These centers were established not only to provide material assistance but also to promote social cohesion and create safe spaces where children and families can find a sense of belonging and mutual support.

For many students, this gesture represented more than just material aid—it was a symbol of hope and a return to normalcy during a time still marked by uncertainty.
